This box can be used from a far distance which means you don't have to sit right in front of it. Benefits can be found from only fifteen minutes of use as compared with one to two hours with traditional light boxes. You might also want to consider a portable light box device for when you're on the go. There are traditional and Blue Lux lights that are made for travel.

Grow lights for light therapy may be useful for very mild cases of winter blues, but for full blown SAD you will probably need a device made especially for this purpose.
